Parental Internet Filter Overview
Parental Internet Filter is an Internet Filtering software program that allows parents to protect their children in the Internet. With our Parental Internet Filter you can:
- Filter-out websites, blogs, e-mails and instant messages if they contain inappropriate words.
- Specify days and hours when Internet is allowed.
- Limit amount of data that can be sent or received via Internet.
- Set the lists of allowed and blocked Internet programs.
- Get 'in time' notification e-mails.
- Get detailed reports about visited web sites, used programs and etc.
How does the Parental Internet Filter work?
Parental Internet Filter installs a special network component that receives all network traffic BEFFORE it reaches any program on your computer. Based on your settings and on the lists of good and bad websites Parental Internet Filter decides whether to block it or to pass it.
Setting Users and Groups
You can set different levels of restrictions for each computer user as well as you can group users into Groups. The Parental Internet Filter identifies the user by the 'login name' what she or he uses when logs in to the Windows.
If you did not add this user into Parental Internet Filter yet, then he/she will be added automatically to the "Guests" group.
Internet activity reports
You can get detailed reports about visited/blocked websites, blocked bad wards, incoming and outgoing Internet connections and etc. on the "Logs and Charts" screen.
This information can be exported into a comma-separated text file. Also it can viewed in a friendly form of charts and diagrams.
Setting Internet Timetable
With Parental Internet Filter you can set times when your users may work in the Internet or the contrary, the times when access to the Internet will be prohibited.
Setting Daily Time Limits
You can limit the amount of time that user may spend in the Internet. This limitations can be individually set for each computer user.
The Daily Time Limits doesn't depend on the Internet Timetable and can be used separately.
Setting Traffic Limits
If you pay for Internet for bandwidth and don't want your children to download/upload large files then you can set limits for the amount of data that can be received from or sent to the Internet.
Parental Internet Filter Settings
On the Parental Internet Filter Settings screen you can set the administrator's password, export/import your settings, customize e-mail notifications and manage the list of allowed/blocked websites, news groups and programs.
Removing the Parental Internet Filter From Your Computer
In order to remove the 'Parental Internet Filter' from your computer, click on the "Start", then point 'Settings" and then "Control panel'.
In the window opened, select 'Add/Remove Programs' applet ('Programs and Components' on Vista), push on the 'Install/Uninstall' tab, and double click on 'Parental Internet Filter' icon in the list of installed programs.
To prevent removing the 'Parental Internet Filter' by non-authorized users, the 'Parental Internet Filter' will ask you for administrator's password.
